One midfielder who has worked under the German manager has handed some insight on what it is like to be coached by Klopp.

Liverpool are confident that they fully know what they signed up for when naming Jurgen Klopp as the successor to Brendan Rodgers, but are the players truly aware of what they’re in for?

BVB midfielder Kevin Grosskreutz, a player who has worked under the German boss during his successful 6-season spell at the Iduna Signal Park, has written an open letter, arranged by the Daily Mail, to the Reds supporters on what to expect from 48-year-old.

According to the German ace, the Liverpool players should be prepared for an emotional, passionate manager who has only one purpose; to serve the team. However, Grosskreutz has warned the Merseyside club’s dressing room to watch out for occasional slaps from the "animated" boss.

Read his open letter below.

"Jurgen Klopp may bump heads with his players on Saturday, he may even slap them but one message will be clear: it is not about you, it is about the team.

"Klopp is an emotional guy. You have seen on television how he is on the touchline living every kick? Let me tell you he is equally animated in the dressing room. He is colourful, angry, emotional but he definitely has a plan. He has a clear strategy, he combines brains and guts.

"Before every game, he made sure the atmosphere inside the dressing room was always highly charged. He would speak to each player individually, pumping them up, telling them what he wanted and then he would address us all as a group."

Klopp will guide the Anfield side, depleted by a series of injuries to key players, in his very first game in charge in their away clash with north London side Tottenham in Saturday’s early kick-off.
