Chile shocked Argentina with, becoming the first team to beat them at home since 2009. Uruguay and Colombia are without many of their big stars.

Uruguay vs Colombia Preview

Uruguay is one of the few favorie teams to have won their first game of the qualifiers despite the absence of a big star like Luis Suárez. The team of Oscar Tabarez got a very important win against Bolivia on the road 2-0. Now they will host Colombia, another of the four nations expected to have "easy" acces to the World Cup.

Martín Cacerers and Diego Godín were the ones responsible for both of Uruguay's goals. Tabarez was really pleased by the efforts from his men in La Paz and knew this was only the beginning of a long road. They must do their best with whoever is on the roster. In the end, the ticket to Russia is based on points.

Just like they will have some key players absent, Colombia is under a similar situation. James Rodriguez, the star of the team is out with an injury. After a first round of many unexpected results in CONMEBOL, every team must do their best, nothing is granted along the way to Russia.

Colombia is also coming off a win in their first game. They hosted Peru and ended up with a 2-0 victory that has them tied with Uruguay in the top of the standings after only one game.

Despite a strong start, there are many things that are not going Colombia's way in the stat sheets. In head to head encounters, Uruguay has won 3 of the last five games against each other. Colombia has not won at Estadio Centenario in a World Cup qualifying game since 1948.

Both coaches are preparing to face the best version of each other. Tabarez hinted that they are working extremely hard in set-pieces. Colombia they must have a strong defense and a quick offense to make things work their way. Carlos Bacca wants to earn more respect from teammates and fans during Rodriguez' absence.

Ecuador vs Bolivia Preview

Bolivia wants the three points that Uruguay stole away from them back. They do not want to start with an 0-2 record that at this point could even be costly further down the road. Their manager Julio Cesar plans to do a conservative plan but at the same time, have something prepared to counter-attack at any given minute.

The last time that both teams met, Bolivia was the one that won 3-2. Three goals in the first 40 minutes of the game were enough for them as Ecuador two late goals in the second half were not enough for them to afford a draw.

Ecuador will count with the support of a sold-out crowd for this game. The fans are getting behind their team to reach a World Cup. At the same time, Gustavo Quinteros does not want a personal enemy like Baldivieso to mess with his perfect record in the World Cup qualifiers.

The team opened the tournament with a shocking 2-0 win against Argentina. The Albiceleste boss, Gerardo Martino, claimed that it was a very well deserved win as they never had control of the game. The firmly believe tha Quinteros' team won it fair and square.

Frickson Erazo and Caicedo were the ones in charge of scoring both goals for Ecuador. Apparently, there could have been more goals, as the Argentinian defense was a disaster. It was the first time that Argentina lost at home since 2009.

Peru vs Chile Preview

Chile seems to be the best team in CONMEBOL right now after winning the past Copa America and beating Brazil in their World Cup Qualifier opener. The team of Jorge Sampaoli is really on fire, as they can be considered the best version of La Roja that has ever lived.

On the other side, Peru has a mountain to climb, higher than Machu Pichu if they want to make it to the World Cup for the first time since 1984. In the 2014 Qualifiers, Peru started with a win followed by three losses. This time they started with a loss against Colombia, will they win the next three?

Since the 1998 process, Peru does not do well in qualifiers. They have a record of only two wins, six draws and an astonishing 28 defeats since then when playing away from home. They hope that at least by hosting Chile, they have a chance for a positive outcome.

Chile will have to take advantage of the mental toll a loss may have created on Peru. The team of Jorge Sampaoli believes that there is now more respect towards his squad after beting the Brazilian team. In 16 games against each other, 11 wins have gone Chile's way. In their last WC Qualifying game, Peru came out on top by 1-0.
