Manuel Pellegrini will be made to sweat over the fitness of his key players, after losing both Aguero and the Spaniard in the international break.

The latest international break has gone from bad to worse for English Premier League giants Manchester City.

In Friday’s 4-0 win over Luxembourg, which saw Spain clinch their place in the upcoming Euro 2016 tournament in France, playmaker David Silva picked up an injury and had to leave the pitch after only 7 minutes of play.

The 29-year-old midfield maestro picked up a "a bad sprain of the internal lateral ligament of the right ankle” after being tackled from behind by Lars Gerson.

According to Manchester Evening News, this latest knock puts him in doubt for the Manchester derby on October 25, alongside team-mate Sergio Aguero, with Silva reportedly set to miss two to three weeks of action.

The Citizens sit on top of the Premier League, two points ahead of Arsenal and Manchester United, with Silva set to miss the trip to Old Trafford, and will also be without the Spanish midfielder for their Bournemouth tie and their Champions League clash with Sevilla.

This latest blow to the Etihad side comes shortly after talisman Argentine Sergio Aguero fell victim to a “grade-two muscle tear” in their World Cup qualifier defeat to Ecuador, which may result in a one month spell on the sidelines for the former Atletico Madrid hitman.
