Ricardo Ferretti still has two more games left in his contract as interim coach against U.S.A. and Panama. He used a press conference to make the announcement and say goodbye to the club.

The mystery of who would be Mexico's new head coach is over and the man for the job will be Juan Carlos Osorio. The Colombian manager announced in a press conference that he would be the man taking Ricardo Ferretti's spot once he is done with his contract as an interim head coach.

Osorio made the announcement in a press conference that was initially planned just so he could say goodbye to his current team, Sao Paulo. Yesterday, throughout the whole day, there was information going around about the possibility of this happening. It was Carlos Miguel Aidar, the club's president that made it clear that the rumours were true.

Osorio has yet to sign the contract but went ahead and announced the news

"I received the visit of Mr. Juan Carlos Osorio in my office, he confirmed me that he was stepping down as the manager of the club to become the coach of Mexico's National Team," Aidar said in a statement released by the club and signed by him.

Osorio had arrived into Sao Paulo just a few months ago. His debut was against Gremio and it ended with a 2-0 victory for the club on June 6. In 28 games as the head coach, he won 12, tied seven and lost nine. Back during the summer, Osorio had signed a contract that linked him with the team until 2016.

If there was any doubt after the announcement made by the club, that Osorio was really stepping down, the 53-year-old manager came out in a press conference that it was true. He apologized to the fans as he leaves the club in fifth place of the Serie A and just a few games away from the end of the tournament.

“Starting now, I officially announce that I will arrive with Mexico's National team to start working towards the upcoming World Cup,” Osorio claimed in a press conference. "I want to apologize to everyone I hurt in the process of making this decision."

The manager made it clear that it was not easy to leave a club where things were going well, where they still had chances to win the league. At the same time, he pointed out it was a dream of his to coach a national team with such high prestige as Mexico and work to earn a spot to be in the World Cup.

The Colombian manager will have to wait at least a week to be presented in Mexico City
