Brendan Rodgers was given the axe on Sunday, with the Reds now ready to move swiftly for the former BVB manager.

Sunday saw English giants Liverpool call an end to Brendan Rodgers time as manager, with the Reds announcing that they had terminated the northern Irishman’s contract, thus parting ways with the former Swansea boss.

Last season’s disappointing domestic and European campaign saw the fans turn against the 42-year-old boss, and after a series of awful results this term, so did the club’s owners.

The news of Rodgers departure after the 1-1 draw in the Merseyside draw was followed by speculation of who is next in line to become Liverpool’s new manager.

Former Real Madrid tactician Carlo Ancelotti’s name was thrown into the toss, as previously reported, however, the rumors have heavily tipped one man to take the helms of Anfield; Jurgen Klopp.

In fact, the unexpected decision by Liverpool owners FSG to sack Brendan Rodgers, as revealed by The Mirror, came after they had received a signal from the former BVB manager of his willingness to take over the managerial role at Liverpool, despite previously denying any talk of him leaving sabbatical before next summer.

The British publication also claims that the Reds are hoping to have Klopp in the hot-seat within the week, in time for their all-important clash with Tottenham on October 17.

“The search for a new manager is underway and we hope to make an appointment in a decisive and timely manner,” revealed the club’s owners after Rodgers’ sacking.
