Dortmund have made a perfect start to the season and will be hoping to maintain that when they face Hoffenheim in an away fixture. Bayern Munich scored an emphatic 5-1 victory over Wolfsburg which means that Dortmund will have to record a victory by two goals or more if they are to leapfrog their rivals to the top of the table.
Under the tutelage of Thomas Tuchel, Dortmund have been very impressive and are currently on an eleven match winning streak. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has led the line with aplomb so far and has scored 10 goals in just 11 appearances.
After a disappointing campaign last time out, BVB have begun the season very brightly, thus hinting that they might challenge Bayern Munich for the title. Aubameyang believes that Dortmund can give Bayern a run for their money and can challenge the Bavarians in the league.
"We have started the season very well," he said. "Everybody knows that Bayern are favourites. I am probably the only one thinking this and others don't, but I think that Bayern won't win the league this season.
"We have to keep up for the whole season and then we will see how the season will shape up at the end. It is good that we have managed to achieve this winning streak."
The 26 year old has identified Tuchel's role in his bright start to the season and has claimed that his new coach gives him a lot of confidence which has produced a positive effect on his performance.
"I want to score 20 goals in the Bundesliga this season. That is a target I want to achieve.
"[Tuchel] has managed to make me feel at ease from day one. He gives me the confidence I need. He talks to me a lot.
"We have many exchanges and we work a lot on the videos and we do all these kind of things."
Whereas Dortmund have been firing from all ends, Hoffenheim have made a slow start to the season and have failed to record a victory in any of their opening five matches. They were against Mainz last time out in a match they lost despite taking a lead.
The same fixture last season ended in a 1-1 draw after Volland's opener was cancelled out by Hummels.
