Their worst start since 1988, the Blues will face the Gunners on Saturday. We analyze the numbers.

Saturday will see the highly anticipated English Premier League clash between bitter rivals Chelsea and Arsenal.

The two heavyweights will play out the London derby at Stamford Bridge in Matchday 6 of the 2015-16 season, with both side keen on grabbing all three points, and bragging rights, of course, as bad blood between the two respective managers is expected to be re-hatched.

The weekend matchup comes after both sides endured totally different starts to the new Champions League season, with Chelsea strolling to an easy 4-0 win, whilst 10-men Arsenal fell to an embarrassing 2-1 defeat to Dinamo Zagreb.

However, in the domestic league, it is the Gunners who are enjoying the better campaign, whilst the Blues are failing to reach the heights that earned them the title in 2014-15.

Jose Mourinho’s mean are currently in the midst of their worst start to the English Premier League since 1988, having won only one game in their first five fixtures.

The defending champions are 17th in the league, with only four points, having lost three games and drawn one, a spot away from the relegation zone.

Demotion is a far-fetched outcome for Chelsea given that there is still 99 points to play for; however, their poor form has fans worried as to whether the Blues can push for silverware this season in all frontiers.

The London giants, once the league’s best defense, only leaking in 15 goals in 38 games last season, have already conceded 12, the most by any side this term.

Alarm bells were sound when the club’s 2015 International Champions Cup adventure ended in disaster, followed by the abrupt, unexpected end to The Special One’s undefeated run against Arsene Wenger, Saturday’s counterpart, in the 1-0 Community Shield defeat.

Nonetheless, the Portuguese boss still boasts an impressive record in clashes with the French tactician, winning seven games in 14 meetings, with only one defeat to his name.

Wenger broke the streak back in August, but will he make it two wins in a row come Saturday?
