Bordeaux will host Liverpool at the Stade Bordeaux-Atlantique on Thursday, the 17th of September. Check the live TV and online streaming broadcast listings for Bordeaux vs Liverpool below.

The Reds failed to finish in the top four last season as a result of which they  will be participating in Europe's second tier tournament this time around. Their first test comes in the form of French side Bordeaux who have managed just a single victory in their five league matches so far.

Liverpool however have their own problems and have failed to record a win in their last three matches, with their last two ending in defeats. They were against Man United last time out, a match they lost 3-1.
Brazilian international Philippe Coutinho was unable to take part in that match after receiving his marching orders in the preceding match against West Ham. He will be available for the European encounter and is hoping his team can bounce back after a string of disappointing  performances.

"It's a very important game as it's our first in the Europa League," he said.

"We know how important it is to have a good start in a competition like this and everyone's focused on doing well in this game.

"After two consecutive defeats, we're conscious there's going to be more pressure from the outside - we have to do things right on the pitch so we can achieve good results."

The Reds have managed to pick up just seven points from their opening five games, but the Brazilian insists that it is too early to rule Liverpool out just as yet.

"It is vital to stay calm, mainly because we are just at the beginning in all competitions," said the Brazil international.

"We have a long season ahead and many things can happen. The Premier League is tough - all clubs have great teams - and we know twists and turns will happen.

"We have to not only remain calm but also to work hard to achieve what we want on the pitch."

"It feels bad to be out and not being available to be selected and help the team but we have to look ahead now and get over these two recent games we lost.

Bordeaux despite of having made a slow start to the season will be buoyed by their 2-2 draw against PSG last time out and will be hoping for a positive result against a struggling Liverpool side.

Important stats

  • Liverpool won both the legs last time the two sides met in the Group Stages of a European competition (Champions League 2006/07).
