Juventus eye Europa League glory ahead of match-day one. Meanwhile, Carlos Tevez sees them as potential contenders in the tournament...
Having conceded four goals in the Italian Serie A already, Juventus’ defense has come under scrutiny. However, this fact doesn’t trouble defender Bonucci the least as the Bianconeri prepare to kick-off their Europa League season. Speaking about Juventus’ form, Bonucci told Tuttosport:

“We still have some time left to put things in place. But, we feel that we’re improving every day during training at Vinovo. Juventus’ defensive problems will be solved soon.”

The Europa League is a competition that the Turin-based club wants to win although it is arguably not as glamorous and prestigious as the UEFA Champions League. Last season, Juventus suffered a shocking exit against eventual runners-up Fulham.

This term, they are keen to start all over again as Bonucci warned going into Juventus’ home match against Lech Poznan:

“The atmosphere in the dressing room is quite serene. Everyone is willing to display a good performance. We will fight for every ball.

“Actually, our aim is to go as far as possible in the competition.”

Juventus have been drawn with Manchester City in Group A and they are hopeful of surmount the section’s challenges. Asked about the Old Lady’s potential, Sky Blues player Carlos Tevez declared:

“For me, Juventus are the group favorites. They are big opponents. That’s why we can’t afford to miss a beat.”

Juventus and Manchester City will meet in England on September 30 before clashing again on the last match-day of the group stages. In the meantime, Juventus host Lech Poznan on Thursday whereas Manchester City have to affront Red Bull Salzburg in Austria.
