They recently were annihilated by England 6-0, before losing to Lithuania 2-1 on Tuesday.
Despite their most recent defeat, San Marino were in a celebratory mood after their loss. Why? The encounter saw Pierangelo Manzaroli’s crew score their first official away goal since 2001.
Yes, for FOURTEEN years, UEFA’s lowest ranked side have not scored when away from home, that is until Matteo Vitaioli found the back of the net in the 55th minute.
With the game 1-0 in Lithuania’s favor at that point, San Marino’s goal drew the match level, before the home side eventually found the winner in stoppage time.
So happy were San Marino to end their 14-year curse, they took to Twitter in humor, but at the expense of Cristiano Ronaldo.

They joked about the fact that they boast more goals in the month of September than the Real Madrid superstar, with their one goal to the three-time Ballon d’Or winner’s nil.
Cristiano has failed to score in his last six games for club and country, but expect the Portuguese ace to blow San Marino out of the water with his goalscoring form anytime soon.
