Where is the career of Manchester City’s big summer signing David Silva heading at Eastlands?
Being yet to impress in England, the ex-Valencia star has been given the task to show what he is made off when Manchester City play Red Bull Salzburg in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday night.

No Emmanuel Adebayor or Mario Balotelli; both strikers have been sidelined through injury. Now as Roque Santa Cruz’s name wasn’t included in City’s squad list submitted to UEFA for the tournament, Coach Roberto Mancini now has very slim options in attack ahead of the Red Bull Salzburg UEFA Europa League match..

So is it time for midfielder David Silva to finally jump from the shadow and make an impact under a Sky Blue jersey?

Roberto Mancini believes that Thursday night’s encounter could actually mark a positive turning point in Silva’s debut season for Manchester City. The former Inter Milan manager told reporters ahead of the match far away in Austria:

“David [Silva] is now ready to play. I have no doubts that he will be able to cope with English football. He is a fantastic player.

“When you arrive in the Premier League, it’s normal to have a few problems at first. But, when David would have played a few games, you will start to see the best out of him.”

Indeed, David Silva hasn’t yet shown Manchester City fans how creative he is as a midfielder. But team mate Nigel de Jong trusts Silva's potential as he declared to the media:

"I've seen quite a lot about him over the years. We are very excited to have him [in Manchester City]. David reads games very well. He has a terrific left foot and he is very skilful."

The former Valencia star will be honored should he put on a real show away to Red Bull Salzburg in the UEFA Europa League. That will be David Silva's fourth appearance only for the Sky Blues.
