Group G of the Euro 2016 Qualifiers continues with the match between Russia and Sweden. The Red Army will start a new era under coach Leonid Slutski, who replaced Italian Fabio Capello in July. On the other hand, the Swedish team wants to keep their undefeated run in the Qualifiers, where a win against the Russians getting them closer to next year's continental tournament.
Given the current events surrounding both teams, Sweden should be considered the favorite to win this game, even though the Russians will be hosting Zlatan & Co. This will be the 24th meeting in all competitions between the two sides, with eight wins for Russia, eight draws and seven wins for the yellow-and-blue side.

Fabio Capello's term as coach ended abruptly, but his fate was almost determined by his disappointing World Cup and the unsatisfying results during the current Qualifiers. Coach Leonid Slutski chose to work with most of the players Capello called up previously, but he also added a couple of possible debutants: 25-year-old Aleksandr Erokhin and veteran Oleg Kuzmin. Russia's record as host during these qualifiers is not something to brag about. After starting off with a 4-0 blowout against Liechtenstein, Capello's crew gave away one point against Moldova, while losing their most recent home game against group leader Austria. Russia needs a win desperately to make things a little more exciting for the final games of the group.
Sweden
Zlatan's team has played three away games, winning one and drawing the remaining two. Despite being undefeated, Erik Hamren's team hasn't been able to take the top of the group, trailing Austria by four points. If they want to get closer to them, a good performance by Zlatan could come in handy, although the tall striker is not fully fit after struggling with physical problems.
Nevertheless, Sweden's coach has to ask his players to be calm, since some key pieces could be banned if they pick another yellow card. Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Albin Ekdal are one yellow card away from serving a one-match ban, while Kim Kállstrom will miss this game due to suspension.
