The defending champion will face Roma and Bayer Leverkusen, while Manchester United takes on PSV and Vfl Wolfsburg. Here's a quick look at how the teams will play.

The UEFA Champions League Group Stage was held today in Monaco, with a number of pairings that caught the eye of fans and experts. Some players and coaches will return to their beloved countries, while some other teams were not as pleased with the result, given the competitiveness of their opponents.

Andoni Zubizarreta, Juliano Belletti, Carles Puyol and Eric Abidal took the balls from the pots, while Javier Zanetti and Paolo Maldini determined which group would host each team. The groups will be played as follows:

Group A: PSG and Real Madrid will battle for supremacy

Les Parisiens, drawn from the first pot, will challenge Los Blancos for the Group's first place. Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk and FF Malmö complete the group, which will also witness Zlatan Ibrahimovic's showdown against his first professional club.

PSG's Twitter feed remembered Zlatan's supporting word for Malmö aftet the draw.

Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo, who will be looking to establish a new goal scoring record, shared his thoughts about his team's luck.

Group B: United to face tough competition from PSV and Wolfsburg

Louis Van Gaal's team was one the rest of the competitors wanted to avoid, and as if fate wanted Van Gaal to return to his home country, he will have to deal with the current Eredivisie winner, PSV Eindhoven. The German Wolves will also represent a tough challenge for LVG's crew, even though the seasoned coach played a number of games against most of their players during his time with Bayern Munich.

Former PSV player and recent United signing Memphis Depay will return to Philips Stadion sooner than he expected.

The team's Twitter feed replied to their former player recalling a bit of history.

Group C: Atletico & Benfica facing newcomer Astana and Galatasaray

The 2014 runners up will try to repeat their performance from two seasons ago, when they reached the final match against Real Madrid. Facing them will be Benfica, a team that needs to get rid of the "Bela Guttman curse" that has prevented them from winning any international titles since the coach left them in 1962.

Experts remembered Atletico may hold a grudge against the city of Lisbon, while others felt it was a good result for them.

Group D: The 2015-2016 "Group of Death"?

Serie A champions and 2014-2015 runner up Juventus will face tough opponents to try and repeat their performance from last year. La Vecchia Signora was drawn with Manchester City, always a complicated team to beat, and the current Europa League winner Sevilla. Completing th group will be Borussia Moenchengladbach, a side that must not be overlooked.

Fans from each team shared their thoughts about the draw.

Some others don't believe in Sevilla's chances of making it to the knockout stage.

"Sevilla, it's been a pleasure"

'We're here to say goodbye to Sevilla from the Champions League'

Group E: Luis Enrique faces his first professional team as a coach.

Barcelona will start their quest to become the first back-to-back winner of the Champions League under the current format against Bayer Leverkusen, BATE Borisov and AS Roma, the first team he coached in any top flight league. The Belarusian team will try to make it to the knockout stage for the first time in five opportunites, while the German side looks to repeat their 2002 performance, where they reached the final match.

Los Culés seem to have landed an easy group according to their stats against their opponents.

Group F: Arsenal faces foe Bayern Munich one more time

Pep Guardiola's Bayern seems to have landed a comfortable group, where they will be facing Dinamo Zagreb and Olympiakos. Perhaps their biggest challenge will be defeating Arsenal, even if they have managed to eliminate the Gunners every single time both teams have met.

Arsenal's fans were not as pleased with the draw as you could expect.

Group G: The Special One returns home, where he will face Iker Casillas

José Mourinho will go back to the place where his skills were revealed to the world when he faces the FC Porto in Group G's action. If there was an element of controversy needed to make his trip more compelling, Iker Casillas' presence with the Dragons might be it, after their troublesome relationship ended a couple of years back with the shot-stopper on Real Madrid's bench. Dynamo Kiyv and Maccabi Tel-Aviv complete the Group.

Group H: Valencia, Lyon and Zenit fight in a very competitive pairing

The fifth Spanish team in the competition had its share of good luck by being paired with Lyon, Zenit and debutant Gent.  Nuno Espiritu Santo's men may have a good chance of making it to the knockout stages, as they did back in the 2000 and 2001 editions, where they made it to the final.

Valencia's goalkeeper Matt Ryan shared his thoughts about the draw.

Lyon's record suggests they could be the other team to make it to the K.O. stage.
