The Portuguese player joined Real Madrid in 2007 after playing for Porto. The new contract expires on June 30, 2017.

In a special ceremony held at Real Madrid's Board Room, Florentino Perez and Pepe made the announcement that the Portuguese defender was signing a contract extension with the club from the Spanish capital for the next two seasons. By the time the new contract expires, Pepe will have played for Real Madrid ten years.

The 32-year old player seemed happy throughout the ceremony, that ends any doubts of him leaving anytime soon. He joins Sergio Ramos and Marcelo in the list of players that have renewed their contracts over the summer, with Ramos signing his extension just this past Monday.

In the ceremony, Perez gave the center back a watch and a jersey with his name along with the number 2017, the year his contract expires.
