The Spanish striker is ending a longtime relationship with Barcelona. Manchester United had even sent their executive director to Barcelona to seal the deal.

Pedro is no longer a candidate to join the Red Devils, he is now a few hours away from being presented with Chelsea. The five-time champions of the Premier League have now taken the lead on the negotiations with Pedro as he has landed in London to undergo medical exams according to SkySports.

Pedro seems happy in London

After being the hero in the UEFA Super Cup but not being able to shine against Athletic in the Spanish Cup, the 28-year-old striker is about to join the reigning champions of the Premier League. After nine years with the first team of Los Cules, the World Cup champion would not stand another season starting from the bench.

Even a trophy does not seem to convince Pedro to stay

When Luis Suarez arrived, his chances to be a part of the starting formation with Barcelona quickly vanished. Now he was the fourth in line, behind Lionel Messi, Neymar Jr. and Suarez. He did not seem happy over the summer with what is still his current club, and felt it was time to leave the nest which he joined in his youth academy years.

While Manchester United had been a frontrunner in the race for Pedro, Chelsea appeared in the last couple of days. Pedro could not wait for the Red Devils to make up their mind and decided to travel to London with the permission of Barcelona. There, reports claim that a $30m contract is waiting for the Spanish player.

He scored 99 goals in just over 300 games for the Catalan side. While playing for La Furia, Pedro has scored 16 times in 50 games. This will be the first time Pedro switches sides. His current contract with Barcelona will expire until 2019.
