The Real Madrid superstar was recognized for his generous work, beating the likes of John Cena, Serena Williams, and Neymar to the title.

Hate him or love him, there is no denying the fact that Cristiano Ronaldo is a generous man.

Now, the Real Madrid man has the credentials to back that claim, with the 30-year-old former Manchester United man having been named the world's Most Charitable Athlete, in 2015's Top 20 Athletes Gone Good list, for his effortless, selfless philanthropy-like work.

The title, given on the basis of votes and nominations from the public, the athlete’s influence on social media and advice from the Athletes Gone Good Advisory Committee, comes after Cristiano famously donated $83,000 to pay for a young boy’s brain surgery in the summer of 2014.

Furthermore, the three-time Ballon d’Or winner spent $165,000 to fund a cancer treatment center, whilst also covering all expenses for a boy who woke up from a coma to travel to Dortmund to see his favorite team, Los Blancos, play in the Champions League.

Another famous athlete to make the list was WWE superstar John Cena, coming in at 2nd, who made a record of nearly 500 wishes come true for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Tennis ace Serena Williams and South Korean figure skater Yuna Kim came in at third and fourth, respectively, for their hard work as UNICEF Goodwill Ambassadors.

In fifth spot came Barcelona attacker Neymar. The Brazilian magician, who won the treble with the Blaugrana last season, excluding their recent UEFA Super Cup triumph, was recognized for his influential role in the FIFA's 11 Against Ebola campaign.
