According to the Dutch boss, De Gea refused to play against Tottenham Hotspur last week, so he decided to leave him out of the squad until he solves his future.

The battle between Louis Van Gaal and David De Gea continues. Prior to the team's second game of the season, the Dutch boss referred to the shot-stopper's situation with the club, which keeps getting more complicated as time goes by. According to Van Gaal, De Gea made himself unavailable to play against Tottenham last week, which forced him to rule the Spaniard out of the squad for the upcoming game against Aston Villa.

"Frans Hoeck, who works with him as his GK coach, asked him prior to the game against Tottenham if he wanted to play. David told him that he didn't feel like it, so I had to make the call. You can't start a player that isn't 100% committed, and that's why we left him out. This week, we told David he was not going to play, and he just replied 'OK',"the coach revealed.

Van Gaal continued to explain his decision will not be different during the following weeks, unless the Spanish international states once and for all that he wants to be a part of this team.

"The transfer window is still open, and De Gea still has the same problem. He will not be included in the squad until he sorts things out. It's not the ideal scenario for us, but he has to make up his mind," Van Gaal added.

De Gea's future has been the subject of many rumors, linking him to a move back to his home country, where he would play for Real Madrid. Sources indicate that, despite Los Blancos' interest to sign him, the club would be willing to wait on De Gea for one year, since his current deal with the Red Devils expires when the recently started season ends.
