Despite reports claiming a verbal contract has been reached, rumors are he could be headed for another English side.

Pedro is deemed as excess to requirements at Barcelona.

Following the signing of Uruguayan ace Luis Suarez from Liverpool last summer, the Spanish attacker has found his first-team chances slashed to peanuts, bordering on nil.

Hence, there is little surprise as to why reports are linking him with a move to Manchester United, a club in dire need of an attacker, as he appears to be on the edge of completing an Old Trafford switch.

After scoring an extra-time winning goal in the UEFA Super Cup to help the Blaugrana clinch their 5th title, Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo claim that the Spanish and English sides have reached a verbal agreement over a move to the Red Devils for the 28-year-old.

As written in the report, Louis Van Gaal’s team have lodged in a written offer believed to be worth €25m, with an extra €5m of add-ons.

However, United are not the only English side chasing after Pedro’s signature. According to the rumors, neighbors Manchester City are also keen on acquiring the Barcelona star’s services, and have made a better offer for the Furia Roja international.

The Citizens have offered €30m plus another €2m in add-ons, a serious improvement on United’s offer, one which may just tempt the Catalan giants to choose City over the 20-time English Premier League champions.

Furthermore, Pedro’s relationship with City’s sporting director Txiki Begiristain, who spent time at Camp Nou before arriving at the Etihad, may just influence the Spaniard’s decision as to where his future lies.

Despite all of this, Mundo Deportivo argue that Pedro is a man of his word and will thus compete a switch in the next few days.
