The Ivory Coast midfielder scored a brace during Monday's Premier League opener against West Brom, which the Citizens ended up winning 3-0.

Yaya Touré tried to shut up his critics today, following his brace against West Brom. The Ivory Coast midfielder referred to the team's last season performance, while backing up his coach's work in the process. According to Touré, sometimes fans don't take under consideration all the facts surrounding their job, frequently ending with them misjudging their actions.

"Sometimes people criticise you unfairly. But we don’t care what they say. I love my job, I love playing football and I don’t worry about what people are saying about me. There’s been a lot of criticism about me but it’s not been a bad season. Twelve goals and I won the Copa for my country; it’s not bad at all. I'm not back, I'm always there," Touré stated.

Playing against WBA seems to fit the midfielder just fine.

The midfielder, who was rumored to be leaving the Citizens prior to the start of the season, believes that the team will have a better year in the domestic tournament, while they start the chase for another EPL title, just like the one they won two years ago.

"It was a great start. I hope this year is going to be fine for us. The important thing is we have a target. That is to bounce back like we did two seasons ago. We have to keep working hard. Now we have a massive game on Sunday against a direct rival. I hope it will be a good one for us," Touré added.

Manchester City will play against EPL Champions Chelsea this Sunday.
