Out of the last ten Community Shield games, the EPL title holders dominate their FA Cup counterparts. Let's check the Stats in detail.

History plays a major role in these kind of games, and the FA Community Shield shows stats that may not be pleasant to know for Arsenal fans. Since 2005, the English Premier League holders have defeated the FA Cup Champions in six meetings, with Chelsea and Arsenal being the only FA Cup winners to defeat the EPL champions in 2006, 2009 and 2014.

Curiously enough, the fourth time the Premier League winners were not able to defeat their opponents came in 2010, when Manchester United won against the Blues with a 3-1 score. The Red Devils had the chance to play given that Chelsea had won both competitions, and being the Premier League runner up, United played the game and eventually won.

In fact, the only previous meeting between Arsenal and Chelsea happened back in 2005, when the Blues defeated Arsenal 2-1 with a brace from Ivory Coast striker Didier Drogba. The only goal for Wenger's crew was scored by Cesc Fábregas.

Back in 2006, the Blues aimed to win back-to-back Community Shield titles, but Liverpool denied them that honor by defeating them 2-1 with a late goal by Peter Crouch. In 2007, Chelsea was denied one more time of the Community Shield, with Manchester United emerging victorious after a penalty shootout.

Manchester United did manage to win back-to-back Community Shield trophies in 2008, when they defeated Portsmouth after penalties. United became the first team to win consecutive Community Shield titles after penalty shootouts, since earlier in the tournament's history, if the game ended up in a tie, both teams shared the honour.

Chelsea won the right of playing one more Community Shield game in '09 by winning the FA Cup. This time, they were able to earn some payback against Manchester United. Since then, Arsenal has been the only Cup winner to defeat an EPL Champion, in what seemed to be a walk in the park for them, given the 3-0 score against Manchester City.
