Romero had a brilliant World Cup and Copa America with Argentina. Claims to be arriving to the best team in the world.

Sergio Romero is now the newest Red Devil as he has transferred from Sampdoria to Manchester United on Sunday. The Argentinian international keeper arrives on a free transfer as his contract with the Italian club had recently expired.

"I am absolutely delighted to join Manchester United," Romero said. "To play for the biggest club in the world is a dream come true for me. Louis van Gaal is a fantastic manager and I cannot wait to get started on this new and exciting challenge in my career."

Romero helped Argentina get past Colombia in penalty kicks but was not able to do much against Chile in the final of this year's Copa America. Louis van Gaal also claimed to have been delighted by what Romero showed with his national team in last year's World Cup.

"Sergio is a very talented goalkeeper," the Iron Dutch said about a player he has already worked with before. "He was a young keeper during my time at AZ Alkmaar and I am delighted he is joining Manchester United.

Romero comes in just hours after Angel di Maria announced he will leave Manchester to join Paris Sain-Germain. The 28-year-old will be on a three-year contract with Man United. At the same time, there is still a lot of speculation about David de Gea's move to Real Madrid and where will Victor Valdez be placed by the beginning of next season.

Not even LVG knows if Romero will replace De Gea
