The German coach will try to win the first ever Gold Cup with the Reggae Boyz after eliminating the United States in the semi-finals.

Jamaica's coach Winfried Schäfer feels his team will perform one of the biggest upsets in CONCACAF history, when they face Mexico in the final match of the Gold Cup. The German manager brought back the controversy surrounding Mexico's Quarter-final and semi-final matches, which were decided after each referee decided to call controversial penalties for El Tri. Schäfer believes Mexico should be considered the favorite team to win the game, but his side surely has a fighting chance after what they've showed in the tournament.

"We want the cup, and no one deserves it more than we do. Nobody gave us a free penalty, a free kick, nothing, and that's why I'm so proud of this team. We are not favorites, I believe in my team, and we have to realize that Mexico is Mexico, but they will have to deal with the pressure of being favorites," Schäfer said.

The German coach referred to his team's performance in Copa América, a tournament that was used to prepare his side for the Gold Cup. Schäfer stated that everything his team learned during that tournament has been useful, and he trusts all the pressure piled up on Mexico can work in their favor.

"Playing the Copa América with these guys was good. We played some quality games, but we ended up losing all three. It was a blow to our ego, but we needed that to learn and prepare for this tournament. Our team is a lot more confident, and when teams such as Mexico or Costa Rica refer to us as a tough side, then you know our work has paid off," the coach added.

Jamaica is the first Caribbean team to reach the Gold Cup final. Their best finish up to this date was a third place back in 1998.
