The Spanish manager revealed the center back is one of the keys to his project, denying any possibility of letting him join Manchester United.

Perhaps trying to end all the rumors surrounding one of the team's most influential players, coach Rafa Benitez referred to Sergio Ramos' situation with Los Blancos. According to the newly appointed Real Madrid boss, the Spanish International will not be moving away this summer to join Manchester United or any other club.

"Sergio Ramos is our player and he is a key player for us. I would like to see him at the beginning of the season playing for us. I think he will be crucial for us during the season. I am 100 per cent. I insist it's clear for me and for the club that Sergio will be here. I have a lot of respect for Louis van Gaal and football is a curious world, but Sergio Ramos will stay with us," Benitez stated.

Ramos' glorious header against Atletico that sent the UEFA Champions League final to extra time.

The newly appointed coach also referred to his team's form, which he expects to develop shortly, given that their first pre-season game ended with a 0-0 draw against Roma, which the club ended losing after a penalty shootout.

"We are giving all the players a lot of work to do. It's normal that they don't show their true form during these games. We will manage those work loads for them to arrive in top shape to the crucial stages of the season," the former Napoli boss added.

Although his team is "one of the best in the world", Benitez refused to say if Real Madrid will attempt to sign more players.

"We'll work with what we've got, and if we can add skillful players to an already talented squad, so be it. We will keep that in mind until the transfer window is over," the coach concluded.
