Arsene Wenger decided the Chilean striker needed more days off after playing for Chile in the Copa America. He is targeted to come back on August 16.

Alexis Sanchez was the one to score the goal with which Chile ended a 99-year drought for Chile as they became the champions of the Copa America for the first time. Now, he is considered a hero in his country and his coach with Arsenal, Arsene Wenger does not want to rush him back to action at this point.

The former Barcelona striker, who had a great first season with the Gunners in 2014-2015, will be back in training by August 3, and should be back on the pitch within two or three weeks after, according to the veteran manager.

Before he suits up for Arsenal again, the team will have already played the FA Community Shield Cup and the season opener against West Ham. His return to action is expected to be by August 16 at Crystal Palace.

Alexis Sanchez was a figure among Chile's Copa America roster

"He went into the Copa America a little bit jaded but when he had to turn up in the final he was there, always dangerous, always provoking opponents and the one with the guts to take the final penalty," Wenger said

Sanchez played in 52 games for Arsenal during his first season and he made it a good one. It was a season in which Arsenal repeated as the FA Cup Champions. He was brought in by Wenger and his staff on a £30million transfer from Barcelona FC.

Right now, Alexis is enjoying his first break in quite a long time and his body was starting to complain. The 26-year-old Chilean striker had been playing  for almost two years non-stop. Le Professeur wants him ready but won't take any risks with the man that gave Chile something they will remember forever.
