The winger became the most expensive transfer in the team's history, surpassing Sergio Aguero's deal from 2011.

After six months of going back and forth, refusing to sign a contract extension with Liverpool, finally Raheem Sterling got away with it and signed a multi-million deal with Manchester City. The former Liverpool man will play for the Sky Blues for the next five years, after penning a deal that will grant him a whopping £180,000 per week wage.

After a trophy-less season, Manchester City chose to add Sterling to their squad despite the not-so-brilliant form shown by the player in the recently concluded season. With contract talks going on for most of the first semester of the year, Sterling seemed to be more focused on signing himself a good deal than performing correctly on the pitch. Nevertheless, the Citizens paid Liverpool £49 million for the player's services.

Coach Manuel Pellegrini was truly satisfied after thel player's confirmed signing.

"Raheem Sterling is one of the best attacking players in world football, and I am very much looking forward to him joining our squad out in Australia later this week. He is a young player with outstanding ability, and I am sure the Manchester City fans will be very excited about seeing him in action for the team," the Chilean coach stated.

Sterling's deal established a record for the Sky Blues.

The player forced his transfer away from Liverpool earlier last week, when he refused to train with the club two consecutive days. Finally, coach Brendan Rodgers agreed for the player to be sold, despite his initial attempts of keeping him around.

After the news broke out, Liverpool fans bashed their former player with a number of tweets.
