Louis Diamond, a four-year-old fan of the Dutchman, couldn’t hold back the tears after his father revealed to him the striker's fate at Old Trafford.

The news of Robin Van Persie leaving Manchester United for Fenerbahce has hit fans of the Dutch striker and his current employers hard, but none was as heartbroken as this Manchester United faithful to hear of the 31-year-old striker’s faith.

Louis Diamond’s reaction to news that the former Arsenal man will be sold to the Turkish giants was priceless, and all caught on camera.

So what in particular made this story worthwhile? To start with, Louis is only four years old. In addition to that, the young Red Devils fan burst into tears when his father revealed to him this bombshell.

Sam Diamond, father to the four-year-old inconsolable boy, admitted to Manchester Evening News that it was about time his wife and him informed their young kid that Van Persie will no longer be at Old Trafford.

"We had to let him know before bed. He had had a long day so he was quite tired and he just burst into fits of tears.

"As cruel as it may seem I couldn’t resist getting the phone out. My wife and I can’t wait to show it to him in 10 years time when he can laugh along to it."

Sam also gave a little insight into his family’s history of supporting the 20-time English Premier League champions, claiming both him and Louis have been fans from a young age.

"I’m originally from Manchester so United is in my blood,” Sam stated. “For as long as Louis can remember we’ve been singing football songs and whenever we’re playing in the garden he’s Robin van Persie and I’m goalkeeper David de Gea.

"Robin van Persie has always been a hero for him,” he added. “Louis is just sad to see him go."

If you found little Louis’ parents’ actions cruel, they did attempt to consolidate the young Van Persie fan by assuring him that better players will arrive in the summer transfer market.

"We’ve tried to lighten the load by letting him know United are signing a couple of big names and it will be okay without van Persie but it’s a still sad for a four-turning-five year-old," Sam concluded.
