Darmian has signed a four-year contract with the Red Devils. Hummels is initially not interested in

Manchester United wants to make sure that they are ready to face any competition this summer and for that they are building a very strong team. They have now signed Italian defender Matteo Darmian on a four-year deal to join Marcos Rojo in United's defensive unit. Matt Hummels is next on the Red Devils wish list.

Darmian is joining the Premier League club after having played for Torino for a fee of £12.7m that could even rise to £14.4 million if his performances are deemed as good. Torino is not the only club benefitted from this deal. AC Milan (his first club) will be receiving £287,000 due to a sell-on clause in his contract.

The 25-year-old player could develop as a central defender or also on the right side of the defense. Having a very versatile player can help Louis van Gaal in what could be his first season leading Manchester United in the Champions League. Before that happens, the team will have to play a playoff game that will be decided in a draw on August 7. The games will be played later that month.

Darmian's quality has been proved by playing with the National TeamDarmian has been called up to play with Italy

Darmian follows Memphis Depay as Man United's second signing of the summer. The team has already began its preparations for its 2015 pre-season games in the United States. They will be playing Club America, San Jose Earthquakes, FC Barcelona and Paris-Saint Germain.

The next man in the radar of Van Gaal's team is Matt Hummels. The German defender currently plans to stay with his team, Borussia Dortmund. He admits to be happy by knowing that a big club wants him, but that he prefers the idea of helping a club that has recently lost many of their big stars like Robert Lewandowski and Mario Gotze. The team is also without their longtime coach Jurgen Klopp and  Thomas Tuchel is the new coach.

Hummels is saying "Thanks but no thanks" to Man United right nowHummels is pleased with the interest shown by the Red Devils

"There have always been rumours about almost every one of our players, but I decided not to make the move this year," Hummels told reporters while he was on vacation in Singapore.

The 26-year-old player has two more years left in his contract. If Manchester United can't convince him this summer, once his contract expires, they may have a better shot at signing the defender. With the money they may be getting for De Gea, thinking about raising their offer now may not be a bad prediction.
