With the absence of Keylor Navas and Tim Howard, these three shot-stoppers will be fighting to win the Golden Glove award in the CONCACAF Gold Cup starting onTuesday.

During last year's World Cup, three of CONCACAF's goalkeepers shined above the rest in the tournament. Keylor Navas, Tim Howard and Guillermo Ochoa were highly praised for their performances in the most important football competition in the world. With the upcoming Gold Cup, there should be no doubt about the class and skills some shot-stoppers will display, and in a highly competitive tournament that anybody can win, we believe these 'keepers will be the ones to watch for the next few weeks. Here are our candidates to win the CONCACAF Golden Glove award in the Gold Cup.

1. Guillermo Ochoa (Mexico/Malaga CF)

"Memo" will guard Mexico's net one more time after his splendid performance in the 2014 World Cup. Following the tournament held in Brazil, Ochoa chose to play for Spanish side Málaga CF, but things did not work out for him since he was only able to play Copa del Rey matches. Ochoa needs to have a good performance in the North American continent, so he can change his current situation with Los Boquerones. Ochoa knows this is a golden opportunity for him to show his skills have not diminished after being benched during the recently concluded season, so he can reach a deal with a club where he can enjoy more minutes. Ochoa was considered man of the match in two of Mexico's four games during the past World Cup, and he will surely try to repeat that when things get tough for El Tri.

Ochoa denies a header by Neymar during the 2014 World Cup clash between Brazil and Mexico.

2. Brad Guzan (USA/Aston Villa)

After years of being Tim Howard's backup, coach Jürgen Klinsmann will give Guzan the chance to shine in the North American tournament. Following a good performance with Aston Villa in the recently concluded Premier League season, Guzan has the skills to stop every shot that comes near him. His aerial skills are rather good, and he has the authority to boss his defense around. Guzan's performance will be closely looked at, since filling Howard's shoes after such a wonderful World Cup will be no easy task. Guzan started 34 games for Aston Villa this year, conceding 48 goals and keeping nine clean sheets for The Villains.

Guzan will try to keep up the good work guarding the USMNT's net, where he'll be backed up by Nick Rimando and William Yarbrough.

3. Jaime Penedo(Panama/LA Galaxy)

One of Panama's cornerstones throughout the years has been Jaime Penedo. The veteran shot-stopper had his breakthrough year in 2005, and all teams in the region know that he is one of the best in the business. Penedo won the award back in the 2013 Gold Cup, where he led Panamá to the final match against the USMNT. Furthermore, the 34-year old shot-stopper is set to become the all-time leader in games played for his country, starting the tournament wiht 105 caps for La Marea Roja. If Panamá wants to end the group stage in first place, just like in the two previous Gold Cup editions, Penedo will surely have a hand in that matter.

Penedo's skills were enough to make him play for Cagliari in 2005, following an amazing performance in that year's Gold Cup.
