Pirlo will wear the number 21 jersey with his new team. He could join the team on July 21 and will be available to play at that time.

Andrea Pirlo will not only be spending his vacation in New York City, but he will also be living in the Big Apple and has become the newest player of New York City FC. Pirlo will be joining Frank Lampard and David Villa in a team that has just began its journey in the United States' premier soccer league.

Pirlo is coming off winning his sixth Serie A title and fourth with Juventus. He also won the Italian Cup final against Lazio but was not able to win his third Champions League trophy when his team fell short against Barcelona in the final at Berlin.

New York City presents its newest addition

The 35-year-old midfielder was named the Serie A player of the year in three of the last four seasons. His incorporation to the team could really help as they are really struggling to make an impact. In 18 games, they have a 5-8-5 record and stand in sixth place of the Eastern Conference, right outside the playoff spots.

"Nobody could question that in Pirlo we are bringing one of the best in the world and one of the finest players to come to MLS," the manager Jason Kreis said

Earlier today, Pirlo had sent out a message to thank Juventus and its fans

Pirlo was seen watching the New York City derby between his new team and the New York Red Bulls. Despite his career obviously being almost done, his excitement for this new adventure is really evident.

"This is a Club on the rise and shares my same hunger to achieve important results in the League. I am hoping to win,” Pirlo said to NYCFC.com. "He (Coach Kreis) has well-defined ideas in mind, and I am sure we will get on well and create a good relationship to train well and try to win together.”

His skills could be really helpful for NYCFC

The Italian maestro has already a World Cup title as part of his accomplishments. He has played over 700 games at the club level and 115 caps with his National Team. He is expected to have completed his paperwork by July 21, date in which he could officially be installed in the NYCFC roster.

If that is the case, Pirlo could be making his official debut against Kaká and the rest of Olrlando City SC. That game is scheduled for July 26 at Yankee Stadium.
