With the player suspended from the Copa America, images surfaced on the Internet of the Brazilian smoking. They could not have been more far of the truth, however.

Controversy after controversy appears to be following Brazilian superstar Neymar, initially beginning towards the end of the 2014-15 club campaign.

First the 23-year-old came under heavy criticism for attempting a rainbow flick in the Copa del Rey, one which led to a scuffle between him and the Atletico Bilbao players. Then he was smacked in the head by Barcelona captain Xavi and publicly blasted for his immature attitude by the club legend.

Finally, the former Santos ace was kicked out of the 2015 Copa America campaign in Brazil after insulting a match official in the tunnel after sending him off in the Selecao’s 1-0 loss to Colombia.

Now, pictures of Neymar smoking on a balcony flooded the Internet. Well, pictures of a man who uncannily resembles the Blaugrana ace.

The attacker, however, has come out to smash reports that it was him taking a puff of cigarette, revealing via his official Facebook post that in fact it was his lookalike Nico, and that the picture was from two years back.

“You cannot believe that there are people believing that I am even in this photo smoking, right? I do not smoke, I do not even like the smell of cigarette, but I do not have anything against anyone who smokes. And Nico, my stuntman that was photographed smoking, is a very good person!! To make matters worse the photo is 2013!! Guys!! Let us combine... Do not believe all that you see on the internet, okay?"

Não dá pra acreditar que tem gente acreditando que sou eu mesmo nessa foto fumando, né ?Não fumo, não gosto nem do...

This comes a day before Dunga’s crew must face Paraguay in the quarter-finals. This they must do without their captain after his suspension, meaning they must look to newly-signed Liverpool man Roberto Firmino for attacking flair.
