The former Olympique Marseille striker will be joining Nigerian Ikechukwu Uche as part of the club's intentions of winning the 2015 Copa Libertadores.

Mexican football wants to improve, and if you have doubts about it, this new signing should make you have second thoughts. One year after Ronaldinho penned a contract with Queretaro, Mexican club Tigres has signed French International André-Pierre Gignac on a four-year deal. The former Olympique Marseille player will be joining a cast that includes Brazilian midfielder Rafael Sobis, Ecuador's Joffre Guerrón, and Argentinean Nahuel Guzmán, currently with Argentina's National Team playing Copa América

Tigres, a squad that usually likes to spend big money, decided to sign Gignac after weeks of rumors surrounding the striker's future. The striker, who played 95 minutes in the 2010 World Cup for Les Bleus, will be joining a side that hopes to win their first Copa Libertadores ever, and Gignac's experience and skills will come in handy to make that task possible.

After arriving to the city of Monterrey, Gignac spoke to the media in perfect Spanish, revealing why he decided to choose Tigres over sides such as Galatasaray.

"I'm really happy to join such a competitive side. Obviously the main goals are to win the Copa Libertadores and earn a good spot in the CONCACAF Champions League. It's a challenge and also an adventure. I can't promise how many goals I will score, since I work day-by-day," Gignác said to the Mexican media.

After completing a medical, the French international thanked fans via his Twitter feed.

"Incredible reception, thanks to the "Free and Crazy" and the "Incomparable" fans, and also the city of Monterrey. We will do great things".

The "Free and Crazy" and the "Incomparable" fans are the most radical supporters of the team. Those fans treated Gignac with a sign written in French to greet him.

Gignac's contract with Tigres will make him the best paid player in Liga MX, with a fee of 4.2 million dollars per year.

Ikechukwu Uche also joins Tigres

If Gignac's signing was not enough for Mexican fans, former Villarreal striker Ikechukwu Uche will be joining Tigres with his mind set on winning the Copa Libertadores. The striker revealed via his Twitter feed that, after completing a medical, he agreed to sign a new deal with the Nuevo León-based team for three years.

Tigres will resume their participation in Copa Libertadores in July, once Copa América is over, where the Mexican club will play the semi-finals against Internacional Porto Alegre.
