Having survived the "Group of Death" against Mexico, Mali and Uruguay, the Europeans proved to be quite tough to beat, playing extra time in three consecutive games. After defeating Hungary with a last-minute goal, the Serbs blasted U.S.A. after a stressful penalty shootout, where they denied Mali some payback after 120 minutes. The European team has also showed their defense is quite difficult to beat, having conceded only three times during the tournament.
