After ending the season without silverware, the Portuguese striker has been rewarded with a new individual trophy, and even his own galaxy!

Although his 2014-2015 season is over, Cristiano Ronaldo keeps making the headlines. First of all, the player's 48 goals have assured him his second straight European Golden Shoe, beating Lionel Messi to the prize for the second year in a row. Cristiano Ronaldo is the first player ever to win the prize four times, having won it in the 2007-2008 season (with Manchester United) and back in 2010-2011 (with Real Madrid).

The Golden Shoe is awarded to the player that scores the most goals with his team, while there is a ranking between the leagues that multiplies the number of goals scored for a predetermined coefficient (the harder the league, the higher the coefficient). La Liga's goals are multiplied by 2, which is the same as the Serie A, Ligue 1, and  the English Premier League. With 96 points, Cristiano Ronaldo edged Lionel Messi's 86 points and Sergio Aguero's 52.

CR7: The only footballer to have A GALAXY named after him

No, we're not joking. After a recent report by the New York Times, the name of galaxy Cosmos Redshift 7 hit sports websites, since the abbreviation matches Cristiano Ronaldo's nickname. Here are the reasons why this galaxy shares its name with the famous footballer.

Experts from the University of Lisbon were heavily involved in the discovery, claiming that the name Cosmos Redshift 7 comes after the method by which distant objects in the universe are dated. Furthermore, the expert stated that "it is inspired by the great Portuguese soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo, aka CR7,"the scientist added.
