With the intention of hosting more fans, the Blues have determined to vacate their stadium to make a renovation easier, although there will be a few restrictions to use their 'new' home

Chelsea's owner Roman Abramovich is willing to spend his money to give the Blues a house they can feel proud of. Sources indicate the current Premier League champions will be temporarily moving out of their beloved Stamford Bridge stadium to perform a series of upgrades. Since the club can't stop competing because of that reason, their new home will be none other than Wembley Stadium.

Although other venues were closer to Stamford Bridge, the team is negotiating with FA execs to "rent" England's legendary stadium for three years, given that's the amount of time the Blues will need to renovate their stands.

The objective of this renovation will be to add more seats to the stadium. As of now, Stamford Bridge can accomodate up to 41,000 fans, and renovations could increase that number up to 60,000.

Sources indicate that, in order to grant Chelsea permission to use Wembley for their home games, the club will not be able to play in front of a sellout crowd. The Blues will only be able to seat up to 50,000 fans inside the stadium, since there is a limited amount of events that can be staged at Wembley with its 90,000 seats occupied.

If the Blues manage to renovate Stamford Bridge as planned, the historic venue will becom the third biggest stadium in the country, behind Wembley's 90,000 seats and Emirates Stadium total of 60,000.
