Ibra has finally returned to Italy to join Inter Milan’s city rivals. On Thursday, he explained how he came to leave Pep Guardiola’s well-built Barcelona squad to join the hungry Rossoneri.
“Silvio Berlusconi convinced me to join [AC Milan]. I spoke to him twice, and he said many things that were important. I was convinced, and I was already ready to move before the clubs reached an agreement.”
As he kept recalling how things happened, Zlatan Ibrahimovic told during the press conference which took place at the Boscolo Hotel:
“[Adriano] Galliani eventually came to Barcelona and he said to me, ‘I’m not going back to Milan without you’. No player can say ‘no’ to Milan. You don’t have to think that much. You just say ‘yes’ and you thank the club.”
Enthusiastic AC Milan fans would want Ibrahimovic to stay at the club until the end of his career, but the striker has been quick no to promises anything. As he prefers to leave everything to the future, the ex-Barcelona forward declared:
“When I sign for a club, I want it to be my last club. But, you never know what will happen. Barcelona was meant to be my club for life. But then, small things do make a difference. I hope to remain at AC Milan for long.
"However, all depends on the club and on the coach. I left Barcelona because there was someone
there who didn’t want me. I’m here now and I want to thank the president and Galliani for that. I’m sure I will things here.”
Zlatan Ibrahimovic was then asked about his opinion towards his former clubs, Inter Milan and Barcelona. Responding to such questions, the Swede stated:
“I think that AC Milan are greater than Barcelona in terms of history. I don’t know what the problem was at Barcelona. Anyways, Berlusconi convinced me to come here.
“Now, I’m a Milan player and I don’t care about what Inter have been saying. Milan is my future. We’re complete now, and we have a great mentality. Now, we can say that we’re favorites to win the Scudetto. I won at Inter Milan, but now I’m here to win. I hope I can do better at Milan than I did at Juventus and Inter.”
Ibrahimovic should make his debut for AC Milan this weekend as the Rossoneri play away to Cesena. Visit the AC Cesena vs AC Milan Live Streaming and TV Schedule page for more details.
