Both England and Mexico failed to record victories in their opening fixtures and will be hoping to change that when the two sides meet on Saturday. England suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat at the hands of France in their match, but manager Mark Sampson expressed his satisfaction over the performance demanding from the fans that they maintain their faith.

"I would suggest fans stick with us. We have taken a top team right to the last minute," said Sampson.

"You have to understand the level of competition."

England who were offensively very impressive during the qualification campaign having scored 52 goals in ten games could only manage three shots against France.  Sampson expressed his disappointment over the result but claimed that he was satisfied with his team's performance.

"Of course we are disappointed with the result," added Sampson, who is managing in his first major tournament."

"But, from the objective of giving ourselves a platform to build on, we have achieved."

"If people are looking to see players who work hard and put their bodies on the line, stick to a game plan and stick together, then for me they were good value for money," said Sampson, who set out his team to nullify France.

"We have had question after question on the physical condition of the players, but I hope that is put to bed now."

Following a defensive display against France, the Lioness are expected to be more adventurous in their match against Mexico. They will need star striker Eniola Aluko who was largely innocuous against France to produce a top performance if they are to get anything out of the match.

Mexico on the other hand will be seeking only their first victory in the World Cup after their opening fixture ended in a 1-1 draw. Mexico held the lead for the majority of the match until Daniella Montoya scored late in the game as the match ended even.

Monica Ocampo will be the player to look out for as far as the Mexican team is concerned. The 28 year old has managed 14 goals in 41 appearances and is capable of causing damage in the opposition half. Mexico will further have to be cautious at the back against an England side which failed to score against France, but otherwise poses a potent attacking threat.
