Costa scored 20 goals in 26 games played for Mourinho's team. He would be willing to have a cut in his salary.

Diego Costa is not completely happy with the way things are going for him in England despite winning the Premier League in his first season with Chelsea. The Spanish striker born in Brazil has already contacted Atletico Madrid officials to see the possibility of going back with his former team.

Costa joined Atletico Madrid when he was 17 and became an icon of the team by the time he was 25. He was really important in helping Los Colchoneros win the title of La Liga in 2014 with 27 goals. Costa then sign a five-year-contract with Chelsea during the summer and that would expire by 2019.

Costa has adapted with ease to playing under Mourinho's orders. He was one of the biggest revelations in the Premier League at the beginning of the season, but then the injuries came back. He missed most of the end of the season with hamstring issues just like the ones he experienced in Madrid.

Outside from the football field, Costa has had a hard time adapting to the food, the wet English climate and even the language. He is obviously not completely happy and Atletico would love to have him back. The main problem is that they would not be able to pay him as much as he gets with the Blues.

Rumors have it that the 26-year-old striker is willing to take a hit in his paycheck. The Spanish club is not able to pay him what he gets in Chelsea. The London-based team paid £32m for their new star in 2014, earning twice as much as what he got before.

Mourinho is not expected to see Costa go without a high price. There is a higher chance that Filipe Luis could make the move back to Madrid instead of Diego. Another option for Los Colchoneros if they really want their star back, is to make Antoine Griezmann a part of the deal.
