Santos had a 5-0 lead after the first leg. It was the first time Queretaro reached a final in the history of the club.

Ronaldinho and the rest of Queretaro fell short on their attempt to recover from a 5-0 loss in the first leg of the Liga MX final and finished as the runner-ups of the Clausura 2015 tournament. Santos has won their fifth title in less than 20 years since they won their first one in 1996.

The team from Torreon arrived in Queretaro with a lead that seemed really comfortable and almost impossible to lose. Some were saying the second game should not even be played. Queretaro proved that there was still some dignity within the team and scored three goals in the first 45 minutes of the second leg.

Mario Osuna scored the first one from a penalty kick just ten minutes into the game. Yasser Corona got the second one just 11 minutes later. Angel Sepulveda got many people thinking a historic comeback was in the making when he scored the third goal seven minutes before halftime.

As a result of such effort by Gallos Blancos, Pedro Caixinha, the manager of Santos, decided to play with a more defensive scheme. He took out Javier Orozco, who scored four of the five goals in the first game and defender Sergio Ceballos took his spot. The visiting team ended playing with a 5-4-1 formation.

On the other side, Victor Manuel Vucetich, who had taken control of the team halfway through the season, went for the obvious and got as many people involved in attack as he could. Jonathan Bornstein left the field and Ronaldinho was sent in with 30 minutes left in the game.

The Brazilian phenomenon did score, but his goal was invalidated due to that the referee considered that he had obstructed the goalkeeper in his attempt to clear the ball. He received a yellow card and did not really contribute in the rest of the game.

WATCH: Ronaldinho created a magic moment

The home team tried to keep pushing in order to at least get closer in the scoreboard. As the time was running out, Santos started to control the game and made it clear they would not allow more goals to be scored. They kept the aggregate score 5-3 in their favor and clinched the title away from home for the first time.

This could have been Ronaldinho's last game with Gallos Blancos. The owners of the team claim that the 37-year-old player will still play with the team and honor the one year he still has left in his contract. There are strong rumours that link the former FIFA Player of the Year with team in the MLS like the L.A. Galaxy.
