Sui Weijie of Chongqing Lifan was slapped with a £5,240 fine after his comical blunder saw his side concede an equalizer, dropping two precious points.

This could, by a mile, easily be the most hilarious goalkeeping blunder and most ridiculous goal conceded ever.

In the Chinese Super League, relegation-threatened Chongqing Lifan threw a 1-0 lead to draw 1-1 with Lianoning Whowin thanks to goalkeeper Sui Weijie, who conceded an equalizer whilst taking a water break during a free kick.

After noticing the custodian quenching his thirst beside the far left post of the goal, Lianoning Whowin took the foul just outside the penalty box quickly, and put the ball into the empty net, with the shot-stopper unaware of what was happening.

Watch the incident in the video below.

As a result of the horrible mistake, he was slapped with a £5,240 (50,000 yuan) fine, was met with angry fans at the airport, and could still face suspension for his actions.

After the game, Sui Weijie took full responsibility and apologized to the club’s supporters, whilst also promising he will never allow another lapse in concentration as costly as the one he committed occur again.

"I made a terrible mistake in Sunday’s game and let go a full three points. I won’t repeat the same mistake and will never lose concentration,” said the goalkeeper.
