It's been 52 years since Bolivia last won the Copa America and they don't have an easy road ahead if they want to make 2015 their year. A roster that includes seven players that belong to foreign countries gives the team some hope to at least make it to the second round. Bolivia is currently ranked 92, dropping seven spots from where they finished last year.
The team has not played any friendly matches this year. Mauricio Soria and his players will test themselves out against Venezuela on May 31st and follow it by playing against Lionel Messi and Argentina six days later. They will play against Mexico, Ecuador and the host nation, Chile, in order to try and advance to the second round for the first time since 1997.
History in Copa America
Bolivia is not known for being a threat to the title of South America's most prestigious tournament. The team did win it when they hosted it back in 1963. Since that year, they have been knocked out in the first round of the competition almost every single time. In Uruguay 1995 they made it to the quarterfinals and when they hosted the tournament in 1997, they lost in the final against Brazil 3-1.
Players to watch
Pablo Escobar from The Strongest is expected to rise as one of the leaders in this squad. He returns to the national team after being absent from any call-ups for the last three years. The 36-year-old midfielder was recently selected as the best player of the league. One of the surprises on this list is 18-year-old Sebastian Gamarra who plays in A.C. Milan's youth academy. His country sees him as the future of soccer in Bolivia.
Pablo Escobar, 36, is Bolivia's most experienced player
