The Gunners' striker was harshly criticized by his compatriot, who believes Arsenal will not win a championship with Giroud as their main man up front.

It took him a while, but finally Olivier Giroud answered to Thierry Henry's comments about him. After the current sports commentator criticized Giroud's performances over the years, Arsenal's striker hit back at the French legend, stating he is not as great as he believes in his new role.

Henry was not happy after the Gunners ended up with a 0-0 draw against Chelsea, and referred to Giroud as one of the reasons why Arsenal can't be considered as true Premier League contenders.

"I think Giroud is doing extremely well. But can you win the league with him? I wouldn't think so. He does a job, and he does it ever so well, but you can't win the league with him," Henry stated after the match.

Today, Arsenal's center forward looked back at his former team-mate's words, and made it clear he has his opinion about Henry's performance as a sports pundit.

"I was an easy target for a 'dull' Henry. I heard he was saying too many dull things. That was a bomb and it had its desired effect," Giroud replied.

Giroud had his back covered by another Frenchman: coach Arsene Wenger. Le Prof replied to Henry's comments, considering them something he had to do in order to draw attention to him.

"He's paid for that. We know all the system now of the modern media, especially on TV. I know how it works. They push you to be controversial because they give you a lot of money," Wenger stated back then.

Giroud has not been able to score since Arsenal's 4-1 over Liverpool back in April. The Gunners are third in the English Premier League with one more game to go.
