Man City was planning to offer around £40million for the midfielder. Kevin has scored 15 goals in all competitions for his team.

Manchester City is not going to have an easy way to get Kevin De Bruyne for their team for next season. The English side has received an ultimatum from Wolfsburg to stay away from their key midfielder. De Bruyne was previously owned by the Blues and only played eight games for them, spending most of his time on loans.

Since January 2014, things have gotten better for the Belgian player who has found the playing time he wanted with Wolfsburg. The German side paid Chelsea £18million for him and now his value has doubled in less than 18 months.

De Bruyne has scored 15 goals in all competitions for the team and has 20 assists in the Bundesliga, which equals a league record. His numbers have made him really important for Dieter Hecking's team throughout the year. Wolfsburg is currently in second place in the Bundesliga with 68 points, eight behind Bayern Munich.

Klaus Allofs, the CEO of the team does not want Manchester City or any other team to approach the 23-year-old player. His value for the team makes him non-negotiable for now.

'At the moment, I'd call him unsellable,' Allofs said to German TV show Doppelpass. "I am 100 per-cent convinced he will play for us next year."
