Orlando got ahead with a goal from Eric Avila in the 12th minute, assisted by Break Shea. Then, before halftime, it was Cyle Larin who got the goal and got the assist from Kaká in a brilliant play by the Brazilian and an easy finish from Larin.

Los Angeles could not hold the home team back at the beginning of the second half and just seven minutes into it Kaká got his chance to score from the penalty spot. The former FIFA Player of the Year winner did not hesitate on his shot and got it through the right side of the goal while Penedo went the other way. It was his fourth goal of the season and he would get booked for excessive celebration immediately after that.

In the 73rd minute of action, Orlando City would seal the deal with a shot from outside the box by Darwin Ceren that got deflected and did not give Penedo any chance to stop it. From there on, the home team kept control of the game and a clean sheet against the reigning MLS champions.

Now, the new MLS franchise team from central Florida is in the fifth spot of the Eastern Conference and has 12 points. L.A. Galaxy is looking forward to having Steven Gerrard join the team as they are currently seventh in the Western Conference, just outside the qualifying spots for the playoffs.
