Real Madrid has lost any chances to catch up with Barcelona. Ronaldo has scored 45 of Madrid's 111 goals this season.

45 goals is what Cristiano Ronaldo has in his personal account after 37 La Liga games this season. His hat-trick against Espanyol could have given Real Madrid a chance to fight for the title next week if Barcelona did not beat. Now, Ronaldo hopes to at least win the Pichichi, a race he leads by four goals over Lionel Messi.

CR7 has scored 26 hat-tricks in La Liga since he arrived in Madrid in 2010. Seven of those trebles were scored this season. Ronaldo has netted almost half of the 111 goals that Madrid has in La Liga. In that regard, Los Merengues lead Barcelona by three goals, as Los Cules have 108 goals so far this season.

Ronaldo was on fire this season

Ahead of the last week of action of this year's La Liga, Ronaldo can already brag about having scored the most hat-tricks out of any player in the Spanish league. Lionel Messi currently stands in second place with 24. The difference here is that La Pulga has achieved it over 11 seasons, while Ronaldo did it in six seasons.

Being the king of hat-tricks is probably something Ronaldo did not want as bad as he wanted to win La Liga and another UCL trophy. The truth is, Messi only needed one goal to stop Real Madrid from having any more hopes at a La Liga title. While in the Champions League, it was a former Madrid player (Alvaro Morata), who stole the ticket to Berlin from his former team's hands.
