Monday's result will have no significant bearing on either of the club's ambitions with Chelsea having already won the league whereas West Brom have secured survival. The Baggies ensured safety after a 1-1 draw against a Newcastle side, which after a series of disappointing results are edging closer to a possible demotion.
West Brom have performed admirably under the tutelage of Tony Pulis who took charge of the club in January of this year when the club was just a point above the relegation zone. Under the former Stoke manager West Brom have picked up 23 points from 16 matches and he will be hoping to finish the season on a high by recording a win over the Champions.
Chelsea who's 1-0 victory over Pulis' former side Crystal Palace earned them a league title were against Liverpool last time out, a match which finished in a 1-1 draw. The Blues are poised to welcome back summer signing Diego Costa to the squad who has not played since the 4th of April. In the Spaniard's absence the likes of Didier Drogba and Loic Remy have deputized but the pair has managed just a single goal between them during the period.
However Jose Mourinho has expressed his satisfaction over his squad claiming that the club will not be as active as other clubs in the country might be when the transfer window opens in July.
"I like my squad very, very much. It's a young squad with space to improve. And I'm in a different position to last season. Then, I was more than keen for my club to sell some players and in this moment I'm very, very happy to keep my players. The base last year was to sell to buy. The base this season is to keep my squad," he said.
"The market is difficult. I can imagine that, this season, will be like Wall Street collapsing," he added. "I can imagine that some clubs are coming with such determination to the market that they will disrupt the market and take it to an unexpected directions.
"But we are in a good situation. We have this stability in our squad. We don't need dramatic changes. We have to be loyal to our players. We believe in them. We have a good squad.
Former West Brom youth player Isaiah Brown is expected to make his debut for Chelsea who are expected to be without the likes of Ramires (illness), Kurt Zouma (knee), Oscar (hip/thigh) and Petr Cech (calf). Tony Pulis on the other hand has a fully fit squad to his expense with the exception of goalkeeper Ben Foster who has been sidelined with a knee injury.
