The Blaugrana look to clinch their first title of the season, with the treble in sight, and it all begins at the Vicente Calderon Stadium.

La Liga giants Barcelona can wrap up the title race as soon as this Sunday if they win their weekend fixture. The Blaugrana are four points ahead second-placed Real Madrid as they look to put the sword to Los Blancos’ title hopes.

Of course, Sunday’s opponent is no easy one. Luis Enrique will guide his side to the Vicente Calderon Stadium with the aim of beating reigning champions Atletico Madrid, currently in third.

Ironically, it was these two very same sides who faced off in last season’s title-deciding match, with Los Rojiblancos going on to win the crown at Barcelona’s home ground. This year, however, the Catalan giants are seeking revenge.

A mouth-watering, must-see ecounter, here are five eye-catching records that might be achieved in the clash between Atletico and Barcelona.

Los Rojiblancos to end winless run vs the Blaugrana?

Barca to end long wait for La Liga title

Saturday marks 736 days since the Blaugrana last lifted the Liga BBVA title. On Sunday, they can end their long wait should they grab a win.

The beginning of the treble

Barcelona face Atletico on Sunday, May 17. On the 30th of the very same month, they will face Athletic Bilbao for the Copa del Rey crown before clashing with Juventus in the Champions League final, a week later.

This means Sunday could be were Messi and Co.’s treble all begins.
