With a heavy 3-0 score over their shoulders, Pep Guardiola and his men will go against the odds to defeat Barcelona on Tuesday and make it to the Champions League finals. Which players can help the former Blaugrana boss to avoid another thrashing?

Josep Guardiola faces one of his biggest challenges as Bayern Munich's coach. After a four game losing streak, which included a 3-0 loss against Barcelona, and the disastrous DFB-Pokal semi-final against Borussia Dortmund, Pep's style has been harshly criticized by experts and Bayern legends, who are beginning to believe he is not fit to lead Bayern to another treble.

With a squad depleted by injuries, Guardiola needs to get the most out of those players available. During the first leg of the series, his tactics were not intended to attack Barcelona, something that Los Blaugranas thanked in the end. Bayern has to be very cautious when they enter the pitch on Tuesday, and needing three goals to at least send the game into overtime, here's a list of those players who should be crucial for the game's outcome.

Manuel Neuer

Perhaps the world's best goalkeeper right now, Neuer was slammed with criticism after Bayer's baffling display at Camp Nou. The current World Champion with Germany boasted prior to the game about his skills, stating he would "show Messi who's the boss one more time." Well, his time to shine comes now, since Bayern desperately needs to keep a clean sheet in order to stand a chance against Los Blaugranas. So far this season, Barcelona has failed to score in just five games, can Manuel Neuer deny Messi & Co. any more goals?

Neuer had kept a clean sheet against Messi in their three previous meetings.

Jerome Boateng

Perhaps the most trolled player in Bayern's squad after Wednesday's loss, Boateng has proved his worth for his team a number of times, and maybe that treatment was a little bit harsh on the German international. With Guardiola still thinking about how he can line up his team against the feared MSN attack, Jerome will surely be the leader of the Bavarian defense. This is were Guardiola will have to balance his team, since last week proved that facing Messi, Suarez and Neymar with a one-on-one formation is deadly for anyone.

After an Instagram post, which was meant to motivate him after his unlucky game vs Barcelona, Boateng will try to prove he only had one bad night.

Xabi Alonso

The Spanish player's contribution to his team will be crucial on both ends of the pitch. Alonso has proved to be quite valuable for Guardiola taking free kicks, and establishing himself as a good companion for Bastian Schweinsteiger. Even though his feet are not as quick as they used to be, his leadership and positioning skills will be key for Bayern's midfield, since he will surely be the one to distribute the ball to those who have to damage Barcelona. Last year, Alonso missed the Final with Real Madrid after being booked during the second leg against Bayern, and he will not want to miss the chance of playing the big game one more time.

Alonso will try not to look back to his Real Madrid days, when his side struggled heavily to defeat Barcelona.

Mario Götze

Perhaps Guardiola's biggest mistake while playing at Camp Nou, Götze was left out of the team's starting lineup, even with all those players missing. His performance was irrelevant during the few minute he enjoyed last Wednesday, since things had already gone Barca's way. After the game ended, some fans found it offensive when he walked off the pitch embracing Marc André Ter Stegen, as if nothing had happened. Götze's skills will be crucial for a possible comeback, since he is almost the only one who can emulate what Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben provide for them. If Götze has one of his good days, Bayern can at least put up a good fight against Los Blaugranas.

This gesture by Götze raised criticism by Bayern fans, and he will surely try to erase that from their minds on Tuesday.

Thomas Müller

The heart and soul of the team's offense. While Robert Lewandowski has been a threat for all of Bayern's foes, the Polish striker isn't fully fit, and Müller's drive and intensity may be all Bayern needs to make miracles happen. Müller was key to revert the 3-1 score against Porto in the Quarterfinals, and was also one of the scorers against Shakhtar Donetsk during the second leg of their Round of 16 matchup. Furthermore, if we still wants to prove Guardiola wrong for substituting him when the team went down 1-0, this could be a golden chance for him to do so. Müller is Bayern's top scorer in this Champions League edition, and the Bavarian giants need his goals now more than ever.

Müller celebrates one of his goals against Shakhtar Donetsk earlier this year.
