Africa's richest man stated his intention of buying the Gunners, even after having his offer dismissed back in 2010.

Nigerian businessman Aliko Dangote has stated once again his intention to buy Premier League side Arsenal. Africa's richest man, with an estimated fortune of 15.7 billion dollars, revealed he would be keen on purchasing the team, after a failed attempt back in 2010.

Dangote is well-known for his business deals, including the sugar, construction and brewery industries. Furthermore, he's supported health causes, like he did in 2014 when he donated part of his fortune to halt the spread of ebola in the continent.

During an interview, Dangote revealed he remains interested in buying Arsenal, but not a 16 percent share as he intended to buy back in 2010.

"I still hope, one day at the right price, that I'll buy the team. I might buy it, not at a ridiculous price but a price that the owners won't want to resist. I know my strategy," the businessman stated.

In 2010, former director Lady Nina Bracewell-Smith was selling her shares, Dangote presented a bid to buy those shares, but his offer was rebuffed by Arsenal's board. It is unclear which shares the African businessman would buy, since majority stakeholder Stan Kroenke and Uzbek Alisher Usmanov have stated they have no intention on selling their shares.

The Gunners are currently tied with Manchester City as Premier League's second place with a game in hand, and their coach Arsene Wenger has stated the team would need a series of top-quality players to add some talent to their squad. Surely, the Nigerian's fortune would be very welcome with that in mind.
