Lionel Messi celebrated the 10th anniversary of his first goal with his 40th goal this season, which puts him in the lead of La Liga's scorers. Barcelona has scored 102 goals so far this season while playing La Liga matches, following today's display which included three goals by Luis Suarez, a header by Gerard Pique, a penalty kick by Neymar and a right-footed strike by Ivan Rakitic.
Surprisingly enough, the hosts were able to hold Los Blaugranas without a goal, especially after Neymar and Suarez missed clear shots to Cordoba's net. Ivan Rakitic broke the deadlock after an assist by Messi. Just two minutes later, Suarez scored his first goal today following a pass by Andres Iniesta.
After 69 seconds of the second half, Messi scored his 39th goal of the season with a great header following a pass by Dani Alves. This was Messi's third goal using his head this year, following his two goals against Eibar a few weeks ago.
Minutes later, Messi scored his 40th La Liga goal, after taking advantage of a loose ball inside Cordoba's box.
But perhaps the thing that stood out the most of Messi's game was his unselfishness, since he gave Neymar a chance to redeem himself after an awful match, by giving him the opportunity of scoring a penalty.

Remember when people said Messi & Neymar wouldn't get along? Clearly their companionship goes beyond the pitch at this point. Great fellas.

Messi is leagues above Ronaldo. In ability and personality. Granted Ronaldo's a goal machine. But is he exciting to watch? No.
