Brazilian star and former Manchester City player Robinho has officially signed for Italian giants and Serie A contenders AC Milan.

Robinho now in AC MilanRobinho, who was repeatedly linked with a possible move to FC Barcelona earlier on, has finally been transferred to AC Milan after the English club accepted an offer of 15 million Euros. This signing however does not give any financial benefit to the Citizens who bought the attacker from Real Madrid for 42.5 million Euros, in the final day of the Premier League summer transfer window back in 2008.

Robinho - Times in Manchester City

As the man marking the beginning of a new era for the big spending club, Robinho expressed his gratitude on his debut by scoring a cracking free-kick in Man City’s 3-1 defeat to Chelsea. Weeks after, he scored a hat-trick against Stoke City to reach a new level in his career; yet, his second season in England did not turn out to be as impressive as his first one.

An injury which saw him miss 3 months of action only enabled him to play a dozen games. With only 16 goals in 53 matches for Manchester City in all, Robinho was sent on loan to Santos where he netted 11 goals in 22 appearances for the Brazilian club.

Robinho - Great times ahead in AC Milan

Just next to Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s transfer from Barcelona, Robinho happens to be AC Milan’s latest signing. He then joins the likes of fellow Brazilian superstars Ronaldinho and Pato.

"AC Milan have great players, a great team with a victorious history,” said an enthusiastic Robinho. “I hope that together with my new mates, we will be able to help the club to get several titles.

"I have always been hearing great things about Milan from Kaka. I am sure that the other Brazilian players will help me to integrate myself into the team.

“I hope to satisfy all Milan fans, so I’ll train hard to make it happen. I want to make them all happy.”

Obviously, the Blues did not omit to send their kind wishes to the 26-year-old forward. Should Robinho be immediately favored by his manager, then he would be making his debut for AC Milan against Cesena on September 11 in the Serie A.
